Hugely experienced rugby coach Scott “Razor” Robertson, with his busy schedule, needs a place to regroup and regather, and his recently installed Juralco outdoor room is a great place to start.

Razor, as a hugely successful coach of the Canterbury Crusaders and most recently the All Blacks, knows the importance of utilising space. He had been investigating how best to use his outdoor spaces and ultimately engaged a local Juralco installer MAK Homes Ltd, to bring his vision to reality.

The brief was to create a space that he and his family could use as an extension of their indoor living, and that could be utilised year-round. The solution was a bespoke “outdoor room”, consisting of a Juralco freestanding SunPivot® louvre roof along with side protection provided by a Solarzip® outdoor blind and Glaslide® glass sliding panel doors, which give him and his family the ability to use this space whatever the weather.

The louvre roof is powder-coated Dulux® Matt Black, and the custom-designed free-standing structure fits perfectly in the available space with the louvre blades set to the optimum sun orientation. The drop-down screen has ensured protection from the elements, including blocking 90% of harmful UV light, and the stunning Glaslide® panels allow flexibility to open and close off the area with stackable, robust glass doors, which move effortlessly on their tracks.

This has meant, in Razor’s own words, that this area is “Beautiful as an extension of the house and his living area for the family.” And that “the package came together perfectly as a multi-use facility, and they are outside way more.” Whether it is relaxing on the sofa, busting out breakdancing moves or deciding on the team for the next game, the family have an additional room to work or play in, and the finished product and aftercare were “world class.”
